Our Services
Erosion Control Matting
Protecting slopes. Stabilizing soil. Controlling erosion.
Erosion control matting and blanket installation for commercial, roadway, and infrastructure projects across South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.
Slope protection
Professional erosion control matting installation
Erosion control matting gives disturbed soil immediate protection while newly seeded areas establish vegetation. Herndon Inc. installs erosion control blankets and matting on slopes, embankments, drainage areas, and other disturbed surfaces that need more protection than seed alone.
Properly installed matting holds seed and soil in place, reduces erosion from rainfall and runoff, and helps protect nearby streams and rivers while new grass takes hold.
We install a range of rolled erosion control products, including erosion control blankets, coconut coir matting, turf reinforcement mats (TRM), and Flexamat, based on project specifications. Matting is also part of enhanced ditch check installations in drainage ditches.

Benefits
Why use erosion control matting?
Stabilizes disturbed soil
Protects exposed soil from rainfall and surface runoff.
Protects seed
Keeps newly applied seed and soil amendments in place while grass establishes.
Supports vegetation
Creates protected conditions for germination and growth.
Protects slopes & drainage areas
Adds protection where concentrated runoff causes the most damage.
Our process
How we install erosion control matting
After the soil is prepared and seeded, erosion control matting is placed over the surface and secured with staples or other approved anchors. The matting protects the soil from erosion, helps retain moisture, and supports seed germination while vegetation becomes established.
Prepare and seed
The soil surface is graded, smoothed, and seeded so the matting lies in full contact with the ground.
Place and anchor
Matting is rolled out over the seeded surface and secured with staples or other approved anchors.
Protect and establish
The matting shields the soil, holds moisture, and supports germination until vegetation takes over.

Common questions
Erosion control matting FAQ
What is erosion control matting?
Erosion control matting, also called an erosion control blanket, is a mat laid over bare or newly seeded soil and fastened to the ground. It shields the soil from rain and runoff and holds seed in place until grass grows through it.
When is matting needed instead of seed alone?
Matting is used where seed alone would wash out: steep slopes, embankments, ditches, and areas with concentrated water flow. It is often paired with hydroseeding.
What areas do you serve?
Herndon Inc. installs erosion control matting across South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia from offices in St. George, Lugoff, and Gaffney, SC.
What types of matting do you install?
Herndon Inc. installs erosion control blankets, coconut coir matting, turf reinforcement mats (TRM), and Flexamat. The right product depends on slope, water flow, and project specifications.
