Sediment Tubes & Fiber Rolls
Slow runoff. Trap sediment.
Sediment tube, silt sock, and fiber roll installation for construction and roadway projects across South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.
Sediment control
Professional sediment tube installation
Sediment tubes, also called wattles, fiber rolls, or silt socks, are long tubes of filter material placed on slopes, in ditches, and around inlets. They slow stormwater, trap sediment, and help keep soil on site.
Herndon Inc. installs sediment tubes and silt socks along with silt fence and other devices to take the burden of sediment control off our customers.
Sediment tubes and straw wattles are also installed as slope interrupters, placed across long slopes to break up runoff, and as part of enhanced ditch checks in drainage ditches, often together with matting.

Benefits
Why use sediment tubes?
Slows runoff
Breaks up water flow on slopes and in ditches.
Traps sediment
Filters soil out of stormwater before it leaves the site.
Flexible placement
Works on slopes, in channels, and around inlets.
Pairs with seeding
Protects newly seeded areas while grass establishes.

Common questions
Sediment tube FAQ
What are sediment tubes?
Sediment tubes are long tubes filled with filter material such as straw, wood fiber, or compost. They are staked in place to slow water and catch sediment.
Where are sediment tubes installed?
Sediment tubes are installed across slopes, in ditches and channels, and around storm drain inlets.
Are sediment tubes the same as silt socks?
They serve the same purpose. Names vary by material and supplier: sediment tubes, wattles, fiber rolls, and silt socks.
What is a slope interrupter?
A slope interrupter is a sediment tube or straw wattle placed across a slope to shorten the distance runoff travels, slowing water and reducing erosion.
